[Kobe - Sannomiya] Ikuta Shrine - Shinto Shrine in the Heart of Sannomiya

Did you know one of the oldest Shinto shrines in Japan is located right behind Sannomiya station?

Even though Sannomiya is one of the busiest and loudest areas in Kobe, you can find some peace and quiet at Ikuta Shrine.

Seriously, it's so quiet that it's hard to believe that merely 100 meters away is the busy nightlife/bar district and train station.


If you're a spiritual person and want to just take a break in your day, I definitely recommend going to Ikuta Shrine. Even though there is certainly a little bit of the shrines are shrines are shrines, each shrine in Japan is slightly different.

Behind the main part of the shrine, there is a little path in the small treed area, which is even more secluded and peaceful.
