[NYC - Upper East Side] Tavern62 by David Burke (now David Burke Tavern) - Restaurant Week 2018

Tavern62 was a super great choice for Restaurant Week!

Disclaimer: We went the last day of Restaurant Week last year, so that's why I waited until now to post...(was in draft mode on my computer for a year)
However, since then, Tavern62 was rebranded as David Burke Tavern, but what we ordered is still available on this Winter 2019 Restaurant Week menu.

This year, dinners are $42 and lunches are $26.
Winter Restaurant Week 2019 runs from January 21, 2019 - February 8, 2019.

Make your reservations here:

Certain restaurants are also available to book through Seated, which is an app I discovered a year ago. Seated gives you up to 30% back for every meal you reserve through the app. I often redeem the credits for Amazon store credit or Starbucks credit. If you use my referral link, you will receive a bonus $5 credit with your first reservation. This isn't a sponsorship or anything, it's my personal link.

This is the dinner menu for Restaurant Week 2019. Dinner is a 3-course meal and you choose one appetizer, one main, and one dessert.

2018 Winter Menu

I checked the Yelp page and it seems like most things stayed the same.

This is the complimentary bread starter - it was a cinnamon raisin bread, which was pretty surprising. This is probably the first time I remember having a cinnamon raisin toast in a restaurant.

I love it when restaurants serve the same menu for Restaurant Week as they do for regular menus. David Burke Tavern is one of those restaurants!

This gives you a great opportunity to try new dishes that you are interested in, but are maybe a little iffy about spending the price on something you may or may not like. Or, am I weird in that way?

Appetizers:
This is the Tuna Crudo (as per the 2019 menu).
This was wonderful! I would totally recommend it. It's worth the supplemental price of $3.

It was the perfect combination of flavors.

I am a potato chip lover, so, of course, I loved the garnish 😂

This is the Clothesline Bacon. I think it's a signature item of the restaurant, so definitely check it out, especially if you're a bacon lover!

I would say that, honestly, I would probably not get this again, but it's because I'm not a huge fan of bacon.

It was cooked perfectly, though! It's pretty thick cut bacon, not too salty, but a perfect amount of sweet. I did definitely like the black pepper on the bacon!

If you're into the Instagram game, definitely get this so you can feature it on your feed to make all your friends jealous.

Mains:

This is the Jersey Bison Shortrib, which, was delcious! Unfortunately, it is not available on this year's menu.

The Jersey Bison Shortrib was marvelous. The meat was so tender and juicy. It was seasoned perfectly! The jalapeno jack polenta was a perfectly creamy and savory complement to the rest of the dish.

If you go and see it on the menu, I definitely recommend!

This is the Filet Mignon. It was perfect! I would say that it is definitely worth the supplemental price.

The filet was so juicy tender and the mushroom risotto was cooked perfectly.

I hate it when people say that "the meat was so tender that it melted in your mouth," but that's definitely what happened.

I would also like to say that I appreciated David Burke Tavern, not just because the menu offerings were the same as they would be on any given night, but also the portions were quite generous and it seemed like they weren't trying to skimp on the experience for Restaurant Week diners.

Dessert:

We got the other Instagram-friendly, famous, signature item: the Cheesecake Lollipop tree.

You can choose to share this between two people. However, if one person wants it as their dessert, you need to pay a supplemental fee.

Ignore the fact that my picture is terrible.

This cheesecake lollipop tree is definitely unique! There are different flavors of cheesecakes.

The dessert wasn't overly sweet and, somehow, the creaminess of the cheesecake was transferred into this bite-sized (or two bite), pops.

So, the novelty is not just the presentation, but also the flavor.
