[Seoul - Gangnam] Kakao Friends Flagship Store - Spring 2018 *Late Post*

Kakao Friends Flagship Store visit May 2018!
Say "hello" to the Kakao babies :)

Sorry late post! I visited Korea in May, as you may know.

One of the first stops we had to make (after visiting my favorite cheese jjimdak restaurant for lunch) was to to Kakao Friends Flagship Store in Gangnam. It was only about a 10 minute walk away from our Airbnb (maybe a review later of the Airbnb...comment below if you are interested in reading about it).

This store is crazy. Sometimes there's a queue even now, way more than a year after its grand opening. I queued one day for it right after its opening just because it was close to work. I don't know why I went...I almost never buy anything there, but I queued just to see what the fuss was about. If you see people queuing behind the yellow ribbon rope, make sure you line up properly!

So, this was the theme for spring, sorry it's late. It was actually late when we went. Even if I would have posted RIGHT AWAY, these items would have been gone because the gentleman Ryan collection came out only days after we left the country.

I had been really eyeing the gardening Ryan plushie holding a cactus (in the middle), but I couldn't bring myself to pay the 35,000KRW in store. So, I held off yet again from purchasing in store.

TIP: If you're thinking about buying something from Kakao Friends during your visit, you may be able to find it in the Duty Free Shop in Incheon Airport! I did! I finally decided to get that Gardener Ryan plushie. I got it for $29USD, I think...it may have been $26...

They've changed out some of the full-size sculpture/statues of the Kakao Friends. You can take your picture next to your favorite character!

Apeach (side note, this is my favorite emoticon):

Jay-G:

Muzi and Con: (Bonus: You can take a selfie with them if you angle it just right in Muzi's phone)

Neo: Of course she's in the beauty and pampering section

They have some new loungewear in the store, it's quite cute actually, but way too expensive for me to rationalize its purchase.

Of course, I had to take a picture with Ryan. (Excuse my face, this was day 1...we arrived at 5:00AM and our flight was at midnight from JFK, so yeah...)

All in all, I'm happy with my purchase of the Ryan at Duty Free. I probably would have regretted not buying one since I definitely regretted not buying a Ryan cushion last time I left Korea (still don't have one...still regrets)

I am not entirely sure if they do Global Tax Free at Kakao Friends Store. I kind of feel like they do, but make sure you check first.
